Unfortunately, this column by Liberal MP Gary Anandasangaree does not portray the factual position regarding Sri Lanka’s contribution to UN peacekeeping missions, or the progressive developments in the country under the National Unity government.
Sri Lanka values its membership in the UN, which spans more than 60 years, and is committed to contributing positively to its work. Sri Lanka’s contribution to the work of the UN, for long years, is well acknowledged.

on the Sri Lanka-United States Partnership Dialogue

Sharing a commitment to democracy, rule of law, and the prosperity and well-being of our peoples, Sri Lanka and the United States convened the second Partnership Dialogue on November 6, 2017, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting was led by Sri Lanka Foreign Secretary Prasad Kariyawasam and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon. The Partnership Dialogue demonstrates the consolidation of cooperation between the United States and Sri Lanka, and serves to further strengthen and enhance bilateral relations in the widest sense, through regular and structured engagement.
Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana meets Vice Premier of China
Hon. Tilak Marapana, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is on an official visit to China to attend the celebrations of the 60thAnniversary of diplomatic relations and the 65th Anniversary of economic relations between Sri Lanka and China, met with Chinese Vice Premier H.E. Wang Yan on 1st November 2017 in Beijing.
