Sri Lanka signs the Framework Agreement on the International Solar Alliance in New Delhi

The High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in India, Chitranganee Wagiswara signed the Framework Agreement of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) on 31st January 2018 at the Ministry of External Affairs of India in New Delhi. The signed documents were handed over to Mr. Nagaraj Naidu, Joint Secretary (Investments, Technology Promotion and Energy Security Division) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India. Once the Agreement is ratified, Sri Lanka will become a founding member of the International Solar Alliance.

Regional Consular Office in Jaffna marks one year anniversary

The Jaffna Regional Consular Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs marked it's one year anniversary last week on Friday 26 January 2018.
In keeping with the aim to improve and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of consular related service delivery to the general public, particularly those in the Northern Province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened a Regional Consular Office in Jaffna on Thursday 26 January 2017. The regional consular office is located at the District Secretariat in Jaffna.

Extending the Tripartite Agreement signed among Ministry of Megapolis & Western Development, Urban Development Authority and CHEC Port City Colombo, two MOUs were signed in Beijing for funding of the Colombo International Finance City (CIFC)Building Complex on the reclaimed land of Colombo Port City Development Project and the Underground Marine Drive Tunnel connecting Airport Highway and the Marine Drive at Kollupitiya.

The 21st meeting of the European Union-Sri Lanka Joint Commission took place in Colombo on 18 January 2018.
The European Union-Sri Lanka Joint Commission oversees the 1995 EU-Sri Lanka Cooperation Agreement on Partnership and Development. Its tasks include ensuring the implementation of the Agreement; setting mutually agreed priorities; and making constructive recommendations. The Commission accordingly deals with a broad range of bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest to the EU and Sri Lanka.
