Visit of Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka to New Delhi, 22nd – 24th November 2017
The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe was on a working visit to New Delhi from 22nd – 24th November 2017.
During his visit the Prime Minister attended the Inaugural Session of the ‘5th Global Conference on Cyber Space: 2017’ held in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest.
Statement on terrorist attack on mosque in Sinai
The Government of Sri Lanka condemns in the strongest terms, today's terrorist attack on worshippers at a mosque in the Sinai region of Egypt. Attacking those at prayer is an act of inexplicable brutality. The Government and people of Sri Lanka offer deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and wish those who are injured, a speedy recovery.
While expressing solidarity with the Government of Egypt at this time of national mourning, the Government of Sri Lanka urges the international community to join hands to find effective ways and means to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

President Maithripala Sirisena to visit the Republic of Korea
On the invitation of President Moon Jae-in, the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena will undertake a state visit to the Republic of Korea from 28 to 30 November 2017, in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea.
A Sri Lankan’s Photograph of African Lionesses Captivates the World
A Sri Lankan won the Grand Prize at the world’s preeminent nature photography competition.
Lakshitha Karunarathna’s photo of a pride of huddling African lionesses was the Grand Prize winner of the 2017 Nature’s Best Windland Smith Rice Awards held in Washington D.C. on Thursday, November 16. Karunarathna accepted the award at a gala event at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. This is the first time in the competition’s two-decade-long history a photographer from Sri Lanka has taken home the award.
